I have been a BetterPhoto member since 6/6/2007. I found this site, looking for online photography courses. I am married with two kids, plus 2 dogs, 2 cats, and the raccoons that like to visit in the evenings. I have always loved taking photos, but could never quite capture that ultimate photo. I've enjoyed my time with betterphoto.com, and enjoy the classes that I have taken so far. I still have a long wish list for future classes and a long way to go, before I capture that ultimate photo. I have two cameras, both Nikon's:the D70 and just recently upgraded to the D700(Currently taking a class to learn all it's special functions). I have several lenses that range from 18mm to 300mm. Through my few classes, I learned that you can't do without a tripod, so I have 3. A flash, filters,special effects filters, and a bunch of other stuff to weigh my bag down and make it impossible to carry. In my spare time, I love to cook, read, and I make the best biscotti you will ever have. I experimented with my recipe and now have over 12 different varieties and growing.
I'm a parent of a figure skater, so a lot of time has been spent in ice rinks and I sit on the BOD for our skating club. One reason for searching for online photography classes was to learn the D70 so that I could take photos during competitions without using a flash. I still haven't mastered that feat yet.
I have spent countless hours volunteering for skating events or working at the High School. My husband and I are soon to be empty nesters, with both leaving in the fall of '09 to seek out or finish their higher education goals. I hope this will leave me with a lot of extra time to spend on improving my photo skills and creativity which I have yet to learn.
